Protecting your rights to safe, affordable, and comprehensive reproductive health care
In this newsletter, I’d like to discuss reproductive health and the work I’m doing in Congress to protect these rights.
Throughout the country there have been unprecedented attacks on access to abortion and birth control. As one of their first orders of business, House Republicans rammed through anti-abortion bills that threaten the reproductive rights of every American. I have opposed each of these attacks and will continue to do so.
Here’s what I’ve done to fight back:
-
H.R.12, the Women’s Health Protection Act (Cosponsored). Creates a federal statutory right to provide and access abortion care.
-
H.R.561, the Equal Access to Abortion Coverage in Health Insurance Act (Cosponsored). Ends the Hyde Amendment (which prohibits federal funding to support reproductive care) and lifts unjust abortion coverage restrictions for those who depend on Medicaid, Medicare, and CHIP.
-
H.R.782, the Ensuring Women’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Act (Cosponsored). Reaffirms a person’s right to travel across state lines for abortion care.
-
H.R.4121, the Right to Contraception Act (Cosponsored). Protects the statutory right to obtain contraceptives.
-
Protecting Access to Over-the-Counter Birth Control (Issued a letter to the Biden Administration). Calls on federal agencies to clarify that private health plans must cover over-the-counter contraceptive products without cost-sharing, including when purchased without a prescription.
